Steampunk is one of those genres that fall into the fantasy because now in the 21th century we are trying to connect to the old victorian times as well as midevil through books, movies, art and cosplaying as steampunk characters and steampunk fashion it self. Yes steampunk has also taken part of the fashion world. Perhaps not up there with victoria’s secret but in middle with goth art as a sub genre of fantasy much like manga is subculture of japan.

There are steampunk anime such as Last Exile and even american cartoons like the Legend of Korra has added steampunk to their fictional worlds. Another thing that has made steampunk such an exciting and famous subgenre is the art of it. The gears used to make steampunk necklaces, watches and rings and sculptures draws in the eyes of many.
